Open governance

A platform we build and govern together

A project by Opengea, open to the regenerative economy. Neither purely private nor bureaucratically public: a common-interest model, co-governed with representative organizations from across the regenerative economy.

01A different model

Kosmos.coop is an ecosystem developed and maintained by Opengea, a non-profit cooperative driven by the will to solve real problems. Its purpose, criteria and data are co-governed with the organizations of the regenerative economy. So the platform is sustainable and everyone’s.

Open

Open, audited core, exportable data and no lock-in to extractive systems.

Co-governed

A Council of organizations decides on values, criteria and the data commons.

Hybrid

Sustained by a company, steered by the community: public-private for real.

02How we organize

Three rings, everything in its place

01

Operating core — Opengea

We bring the team, the technology and the infrastructure. We guarantee continuity, quality and evolution of the platform.

02

Governance Council

Selected social-economy and second-tier organizations, representative of the regenerative economy, co-govern values, entry criteria and data ethics. A binding voice where it matters most.

03

Community

Users and clients co-design, prioritize and validate. Kosmos grows with those who use it.

03The commons

What we decide together

Values & criteria
  • Who joins the map, and with what principles
  • Seals and recognitions
  • The regenerative-economy framework
Data sovereignty
  • Data ethics and uses
  • The directory as a commons
  • Portability and GDPR
Shared direction
  • Roadmap priorities
  • Fair pricing and support for starting companies
  • Alliances and strategy

What belongs to everyone is decided by everyone.

They shape the criteria, data ethics and direction of the platform.

Co-design

Visibility & trust

Being part of the circle identifies them with a values-driven project.

Aggregated impact

Useful, aggregated impact reports for their ecosystem.

No lock-in

Open core, their data, guaranteed exit. Zero capture.

06The Council

How the Council is formed

Dialogue with the ecosystem

We talk with reference organizations in each field to converge on purpose and values and agree on a council of members that look after the common good.

Representativeness

The composition seeks to reflect the diversity of economies that make up the regenerative economy, not a single viewpoint.

Open and revisable

The list of members is made public and reviewed periodically; this transparency is what gives the Council its legitimacy and keeps it representative.

A commons, governed together

Kosmos.coop is sustained by a cooperative and steered together with the organizations of the regenerative economy — so the platform is viable and shared.
